Three Memory Tiers

The memory layer combines high-speed working memory, solid-state episodic storage, and high-capacity archival systems. Each tier serves a different time horizon: working memory for current processing, episodic storage for events from recent weeks, archival systems for anything meant to persist long-term as organizational knowledge.

How This Relates to the Consciousness Layer

These three memory tiers are the physical infrastructure the consciousness layer's five independent databases run on — core identity, signal statistics, operational knowledge, contextual awareness, and event patterns. The memory layer handles WHERE and HOW data lives; the consciousness layer determines WHAT ends up in which database.

Autonomous Management

Memory management is handled autonomously, with configurable retention and consolidation policies. Operators set the policies — how long episodic data is retained, when something moves to archival — and the Neural Core enforces them continuously, without manual intervention during day-to-day operation.
